Rent a Yamaha U1 or U3 in Melbourne.
The U1 and the U3 are the uprights most people ask for, and the two heights you will meet in every Yamaha below. Here is how the models we rent compare.
121 cm or 131 cm
Height is the first choice. A taller upright has longer strings, which gives a fuller bass and a bigger sound. A 121 cm piano sits more easily under a window and suits a smaller room. A 131 cm piano suits a player who wants the sound to fill the room. Both weigh well over 200 kg, which is why only our mover moves them.

| UX3 | 131 cm | X-type back post, with slits beside the upper panel to let the sound out | $150 |
| U30A | 131 cm | All 88 hammers underfelted | $150 |
| UX5 | 131 cm | Agraffes in the tenor and bass, and a music desk that slides forward | $150 |
| U300 | 131 cm | The last of its line, made 1994 to 1997 | $150 |
| UX30A | 131 cm | Agraffes in the tenor and bass, and walnut hammer mouldings | $165 |
| YUS3 | 131 cm | The higher grade of Yamaha's modern 131 cm line, made 2016 | $190 |
Rent differs with each piano's age and condition. All-underfelt means an extra layer of felt under each hammer. An agraffe is a small metal guide that holds a string in exact position.
