Why every piano needs regular tuning.

Pianos go out of tune naturally over time. Changes in temperature, humidity, and season all affect the tension of the strings — and Melbourne's variable climate makes this especially pronounced. Most manufacturers recommend tuning at least twice a year. A piano that hasn't been tuned in years may require a pitch raise before a standard tuning can hold.

Common questions.

At least twice a year for a regularly played instrument. Melbourne's seasonal humidity changes can cause pianos to drift more noticeably than in more stable climates. Pianos that haven't been tuned in several years will likely need a pitch raise first.
A pitch raise is required when a piano has dropped significantly below concert pitch A440. If strings are tuned in one pass from too low, they'll pull other strings out as they're tensioned. A pitch raise brings the whole instrument up gradually first, then a fine tuning follows. We'll assess this on arrival.
A standard tuning takes approximately 60–90 minutes. A pitch raise plus tuning takes 90–120 minutes. A full service and inspection may take half a day.
